ArtClothArt Gallery is a group of women actively making artcloth in home studios on the San Francisco peninsula. The group was first organized in 1992 by seven artists who have been meeting together since that time as a critique group. Our love for color has been the glue that bonds us together and challenges our artistic natures. Through various creative fabric interests each of us interprets and expresses a unique and personal sense of color. Life experiences have shaped and formed the designs that we choose to put on our cloth.
We come from various backgrounds: costume designer, paralegal, truck driver, nurses and teachers. Many teachers have influenced our learning and work: Jane Dunnewold, Nancy Crow, Ann Johnston, Ned Wert and David Walker, just to name a few. Some of us have taught classes in dyeing, quilting and embellishment. We continue to take classes to increase our knowledge and understanding of art. Our work has been exhibited in Pacific International Quilt Festival, Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, SOFA, Marin Quilt Show, Fiber Expressions V, Galerai Tonantzin (San Juan Bautista, CA), Fine Line/Fine Surface (IL), Northern California Quilt Council, Fabric of our Cultures(TX), Art on Cloth(OK), Small Works Gallery (MA), St. John's Art Show (CA). |
